The production

The vine varieties are planted on characteristic terraces created with backfill and supported by dry walls, man-made over centuries. Arriving at a maximum height of a meter and sometimes only 50-60 centimeters from the ground, the pergolas are protected from inclement spring winds.

A terrain readily exposed to the sea air, to warmth and to water; a moderate climate sheltered from the rigours of the north; ideal exposure to the sun; the dry walls’ own stones that reflect the warmth of the sun’s rays such that the maturation of the grapes is accelerated. These things, together with human effort, are the unique ingredients that have made the Cinque Terre’s reputation for wine legendary.
